We have a new product! You can now add your designs to our print-on-demand leggings!

Leggings have had a long fashion journey, first appearing as far back as the 14th century! Though its first contemporary appearance was in the 50s. In the 80s, they rocketed in popularity only to fade away as the decade ended. Leggings then found another rise in the 2000s as yoga was growing more popular as a form of exercise.

Leggings Fashion Journey: features a timeline on the bottom with time periods in white and words in black bubbles with white text. 14th Century Scottish men wore legging styled legwear as 2 sperate hip-high boots, 19th Century women started wearing leggings, 1950s Audrey Hepburn made leggings popular, 1960s the stretchy style we're familiar with came to be after the invention of Spandex, 1970s leggings were high waisted and shiny, 1980s Aerobic craze had everyone wearing leggings and featured the brightest colors up to this point, 2000s celebrities started wearing capri versions and leggings slowly replaced pants for the masses. The final bubble is a white star with black text: Mixing professional and comfort through colors, fabrics, and patterns

But where do leggings fit in in 2021?

People think leggings could be the missing link between how comfortably people currently dress for work-from-home and how they’ll dress for going back to the office. Hybrid working, a mix of office and remote, is becoming more popular and is causing our way of dressing to change. Pinterest has termed this new mix of office and casual as “clofficewear,” which is a mix of closet and office. Paired with the right top or dress, people can look professional while being comfortable at the same time.

Why You Should Add Leggings to Your Store

Leggings aren’t going to be a pandemic only fad. They’re a versatile clothing option for people with all kinds of lifestyles.

Athleisure

Like sweatpants, leggings are now part of the athleisure trend. These leggings tend to be made of a mix of exercise and casual material (spandex and cotton) while having fun patterns and colors.

Create fun designs for the casual wearer to show customers that your leggings are perfect for running errands or laying around the house all day.

Exercise

People like to wear leggings while they exercise due to their tight fit. When doing certain forms of exercise, like yoga, it’s nice to not have to worry about your legwear riding up or down. It allows people to focus on what they’re doing instead of what they might be showing.

Create fitness-oriented designs that people can show off at the gym. Another design idea is that you can try creating motivational sayings that someone can look at and feel energized before their workout.

Replacing Tights/ Jeans

Some people don’t like how tights are so restrictive and thin and are now using leggings as their replacement. An additional benefit to replacing tights is now people can wear longer shirts with leggings and not feel exposed. Many people are saying they don’t want to go back to “hard pants” (jeans) after being in “soft pants” (sweatpants and leggings) for so long.

Create colorful abstract designs that can go with any kind of shirt.

Marketing Inspiration

Print-on-demand leggings are a brand new option for you and your customers, make sure to highlight that!

A great way to introduce leggings to your customers is by putting some of your most popular designs on them. Why? Because some people may love your design but aren’t interested in the other products you offer.

Make sure to cover your social media with pictures of the new leggings from all different angles. Highlight how the design looks on the leggings both on the hanger and on a person. This way customers can easily see themselves wearing them.

Do a countdown email campaign to get people excited about leggings coming to your store. Start by giving little hints as to what the new product is, tease some designs that’ll be put on the product, and then send an email announcing the leggings when they go live.
